The Advantages of a Combi Boiler

There are several different kinds of boiler available today. Depending on the size and age of your property, one might be better for your needs than another.

If it’s time to consider a new boiler, you may find a combi boiler is the right one for you. Here we reveal three main advantages to having one in your home.

No need to have a hot water tank

Hot water tanks take up a lot of space. Normally they’re slotted into an airing cupboard or another cupboard space created to hide its presence. But just think how much more room you’d have if you could get rid of it entirely.

The good news is you can if you opt for a combi boiler. Since this type of boiler heats the water as you need it, there’s no requirement to have a hot water tank in your home.

Now, what could you do with the space left behind if you currently have a hot water tank? There’s a thought!

Very little space is required for the boiler

Combi boilers have become more and more efficient over the years. Mobile phones have got much smaller and more powerful, and you could say the same for these boilers, too.

This kind of boiler will often be placed in a kitchen. If this is the case, it can be effectively hidden inside a kitchen cabinet. The top and bottom of the cabinet may need to be removed to ensure proper airflow around it, but this is easy enough to do. It means the boiler will be safely hidden and will still be able to operate properly at all times.

If there is a separate utility room, some people opt to have the boiler installed in there. Obviously, if you’re replacing an existing boiler, there could be additional costs involved if you move it from one position to another. We can provide a quote that covers just such a move, so you can see whether it would be worth it to move it out of the way for convenience.

No limit to the amount of hot water you can have at any one time

When you have a hot water tank, you have a finite amount of hot water you can use at any one time. This can be a problem if you need more.

You won’t get that issue with a combi boiler. In this case, the boiler heats the water as and when it is required. That means someone could run a bath, and another member of the family could come along half an hour later and run another one, and it wouldn’t be a problem. Could you say the same if you had a hot water tank?

Versatile, space-saving and powerful too

As you can see, there are some significant benefits to having a combi boiler. But just because the boiler is relatively small and is relied upon for both heating and hot water, it doesn’t mean it isn’t capable of providing everything you need. Far from it in fact.

So if you are considering getting a new boiler (or your current boiler has made that decision for you) maybe you should think about getting a combi boiler – assuming you haven’t already been convinced by the one you currently have. We’re happy to pop round and provide a quote for the work, too, so you’ll know how much it would cost to invest in one. Once you know where you stand, you’ll be able to make the all-important decision with regard to the next boiler for your home.
